Riverfront Parkway is going to look a little different, and you can enjoy it in an especially socially distanced way on Sundays. With a new street mural to enjoy, Riverfront Parkway will be closed Sundays – October 18, 25, November 1 and 8. And, you get to decide how to safely use all this beautiful Riverfront space for you and your family thanks to our sponsors Elliott Davis and First Horizon Foundation. Grab your mask, spread out, pack a picnic, grab to go food from a neighboring restaurant, bikes, scooters, games…the options are many.
Let’s face it, everyone wants a little more room to spread out these days. Open Streets activities have been happening all over the country for years. It’s pretty simple – you take street space that serves cars, close those same streets for a short period of time and then allow community members to use that space for themselves. Whether you bike, walk, throw a frisbee or just let the kids roam a bit, you have the space to use as you’d like without the concern of cars and traffic.
Open Streets will close Riverfront Parkway from Power Alley to East Aquarium Way. From 8am – 8:30pm, you can enjoy Riverfront Parkway and the incredible surrounding spaces of the Chattanooga Green and Ross’ Landing safely spread out and wearing your masks.
Also, there will be a new street mural for you to view and take your best Instagram shots of on Riverfront Parkway between Power Alley and Chestnut Street. This temporary street mural will be in place through mid-November so don’t miss your chance to see this beauty before it’s gone.
