On average, children lose two months of knowledge in mathematical computation skills during the summer months. Our Prime-19 package is designed for students of all abilities to keep their skills sharp during the summertime so they can start the school year confident and prepared. Once enrolled, we offer flexible scheduling throughout the summer so that you can fit the lessons in at your convenience- you don’t ever have to schedule a visit! Camp Big Fish (Believers In God, Faithful In Serving Him) is a Faith Based, Summer Day Camp with 3 locations in the Chattanooga area.  We say that we are like a day camp and VBS all put together on steroids. 

We are open from 7:15 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in the summer May 28th – August 2nd 2019.  Parents can chose between a 4-6 week option or a 7-10 week option for attending.  We go on weekly field trips and swim days to the the Southern Adventist University Pool.

This summer, we will offer four summer camps throughout the month of June and July that will cater to all interests, teach campers important positive character traits, and let them spend time with their favorite princesses! BCA’s summer camp provides a variety of engaging activities such as gymnastics, ballet, sports training and biblical studies, as well as water play days, movie and pajama days and other special theme days. Creative hands-on activities include cooking, STEM and arts/crafts activities. Children also have free play on the campus playground as well as enjoy the climbing wall in the school’s gymnasium. Campers in 2nd through 8th grades go on weekly field trips to various attractions such as Coolidge Park, the Chattanooga Zoo, bowling and more. Pre-K has in-house activities that include visits from the Tennessee Aquarium, Bricks 4 Kidz, Creative Discovery Museum, Chattanooga Zoo, Angela’s Angels athletic prep and gymnastics as well as visits from a petting zoo and a local chef and artist. Camp Juliette Low celebrates outdoor living through traditional camp activities like archery, horseback riding, canoeing, ropes course, and backpacking. CJL campers live in platform tents where they can connect with nature, enjoy the outdoors, and make life-long friends. CJL was founded in 1922 by Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts. Today, CJL operates independently from the Girl Scouts, while preserving its time-honored traditions and original mission: to provide campers with outdoor experiences that foster self-confidence, independence, leadership, and a love for the outdoors. CJL is located on Lookout Mountain about 45 minutes south of Chattanooga, and offers 1 & 2 week sessions for girls ages 7-15.

We’ll explore Dinosaur Train: The Traveling Exhibit in our traveling gallery and spend time in Excavation Station. We will have all of the usual fun experiences of Friends’ Discovery Camps including fabulous field trips and fun Big Buddies from UTC.

FDC Science Adventures; Ages 8-11; June 10-14
Explore all things science in this Friends’ Discovery Camp, designed to be inclusive for friends with special needs and their typically developing peers. Campers will become scientists as they investigate the science all around them with the help of their UTC Big Buddies. Campers will also embark on several field trips and enjoy unique museum experiences.

FDC Middle School Edition at Scenic City Equestrian; Ages 11-14; July 29-August 2
In addition to our traditional Friends’ Discovery Camp, campers will have the opportunity to be on site at the Scenic City Equestrian facility in Ringgold. Located about 8 miles from downtown Chattanooga, this camp includes daily riding instruction, equestrian care and all of the other benefits of the Museum’s inclusive camps including building relationships with their UTC Big Buddies.

Campers will love investigating the life of dinosaurs by making dino art and science projects, exploring Dinosaur Train: The Traveling Exhibit and Excavation Station.

Become a super scientist! Preschoolers will conduct science experiments as they explore earth science, life science, physical science and chemistry using everyday materials and scientific tools. Seeing our own Museum scientists during our Science Theater shows will be a highlight of this week.

Designed specifically for middle school campers in partnership with Riverbend Festival, this camp gives exclusive, daytime, behind the scenes access to Riverbend stages. Included are special times to interact with the people who make the festival happen including light show designers, sound engineers, stage managers and more. Time performing on stage and the possibility of time with an artist will make for a week of exciting fun.

Chattanooga Dance Theatre

The best two weeks of summer vacation! Combining dance with crafts, Chattanooga Dance Theatre dance camps are a blast! Children will learn all of the elements that go into a dance performance as they prepare their own choreography, costumes, advertising, hair, programs, and more for their performance each Friday.

Children ages 5-6 years old meet 9am-12noon each day, and may participate in the Little Mermaid Dance Camp, and Firebird Ballet Dance Camp. Children ages 7-10 may participate in the Modern and Jazz Dance Camp and the Firebird Ballet Dance Camp. Hours for Levels I-II (7-10 year-olds) are 10:30-2:30, and Levels III-IV (9-12 year olds) are 10-2:30. Scenic City Clay Arts

Get your hands dirty with Scenic City Clay Arts this summer in one of our clay camps. Each of our camps provide students with an introduction to the tools and materials of pottery and allow kids to create hands-on from day one. Our instructors are professional potters and arts educators who love to have fun in clay. Student work will be glazed and fired in the studio and available to pick up in the weeks following camp completion.

Students will learn how to follow a recipe, mise en place, portion and measure ingredients, different cooking techniques, and food presentation. More than the skills, they will also be challenged, build confidence, learn food safety, proper kitchen sanitation, have fun, and eat great food!
