My family typically gets ice cream several times during the summer, and Chattanooga has no shortage of yummy places to go. Take a look at our vast list…you can have fun with it and make it a summer challenge to hit up every spot listed!

Chattanooga Area Ice Cream Shops

Clumpies: Clumpies is a Chattanooga staple with several locations to serve you! You can find them on the Northshore by Coolidge Park, in the Southside across from the Chattanooga Choo Choo, and in St. Elmo at the bottom of the Incline. Check their website to see where their food truck is visiting each week. When polling Chattanoogans for this post, this was the number one spot on the list!

The Ice Cream Show: Of all the places on this list, this is my absolute favorite. Located on the south side of the Walnut Street Bridge, this place is always busy! The ice cream choices are endless, and I literally crave their milkshakes.

Nana’s Frozen Custard: You can find this yummy spot located inside Sourdough Cup of Joe on Hixson Pike! Before becoming a coffee shop, Nana’s was a popular place for frozen custard. Now, when you visit, you can get the best of both worlds! This is conveniently located close to Chester Frost Park, so it’s a great place to hit up while camping and visiting the lake.

Bruster’s: Located in East Brainerd, this is a popular spot, especially in the summer months. It’s located just down the street from Heritage Park making it a great pit stop for a play date. Their menu is huge, so there is bound to be something for the entire family.

Mr. T’s Pizza and Ice Cream: This spot is one of my personal favorites on the list. Located directly across the street from the Incline, this spot has been in Chattanooga for years. Their pizza is delicious and the ice cream hits the spot on a warm summer day.

Droop Scoops: Located in the heart of downtown Chickamauga, this ice cream shop boasts an impressive ice cream and coffee menu. It offers outdoor seating as well as a large indoor seating area.

Cold Stone Creamery: Located next door to the Tennessee Aquarium and across the street from Ross’ Landing, this is a very popular ice cream shop in the city. With a large green space just feet from the front door, this is a great place to enjoy your ice cream while your little ones run and burn some energy.

Frios Gourmet Pops: Located on the Northshore, this neat place specializes in gourmet popsicles. They have a wide variety of flavors and offer seasonal flavors that change all year.

8 Fahrenheit Ice Cream: Also located in East Brainerd, this ice cream spot is well known for its beautiful ice cream creations.

Milk and Honey: If you’re looking for gelato in the Chattanooga area, this is your place! Located on the Northshore, this Chattanooga favorite has a great menu to offer with its frozen treats.

Ooltewah Whistle Stop: If you’re looking for an Instagram post worthy milkshake, this is the place for you. While there is a large list of food menu items, they are most well known for their milkshakes.

Perkits Frozen Yogurt: Located in Cleveland, this frozen yogurt spot has a vast menu to make everyone’s sweet tooth happy!

Ben and Jerry’s: Located next to the Tennessee Aquarium, this is a popular spot for families, especially during the summer. It sits beside the pools outside of the aquarium, so it’s the perfect spot to enjoy in the warmer months.

The Spot Creamery: Located in Ringgold, this shop offers regular ice cream and dairy free ice cream flavors for everyone to enjoy! Make sure to get your picture by their famous Dolly Parton mural while you’re there!

Sweet Treats Ice Cream and Milkshakes: Located in Fort Oglethorpe, this ice cream shop makes great ice and elaborate milkshakes for the entire family to enjoy!

Dub’s Place: This Chattanooga favorite is located in Red Bank. Offering a full menu, you can have dinner and then treat yourself to a delicious milkshake, float, or sundae!

Tasty Scoops and Sweets: Located in Cambridge Square in Ooltewah, this busy shop offers homemade gelato. This location is great for a day of family fun!

The Scoop: Located atop Monteagle Mountain, this ice cream shop is perfect for a day trip.
