This holiday season, we are all trying our best to come up with festive and fun family activities to make things feel “normal” in the middle of a not so normal year. I wanted to share something I came across that ended up being a great family event.
We will usually try to go to a movie the night of Thanksgiving, and almost always Christmas night. This year, I wasn’t sure that was going to happen. Luckily my mom happened to come across an advertisement from AMC theaters and saved the day!
This doesn’t seem to be widely published, but you can rent an AMC movie theater this holiday season and have it all to yourself (with up to 20 people you choose)!
You go to the AMC website via this link and pick the day and time, and choose from a list of movies that includes holiday classics like A Christmas Story and Elf. For $99 you have the theater all to yourself. They also have some newer releases as well that range from $149 to $199.
The concession stands are open so you can get your buttery popcorn and drinks just like normal. Masks are required. We had a blast and it was so nice to be back in the theaters again. The kids loved it. This would also be fun if you have younger kids that might fuss or not make it through a whole movie because you’re the only people in the room so you don’t have to worry about bothering other people!
