As 2022 is coming to a close, it’s time to think about the start of 2023. If you’re a parent, gone are the days of ringing in the new year with a night on the town. Even though it can be hard to party with little ones in tow, that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate as a family. Here are some local events that everyone can enjoy as you ring in the new year.
Chattanooga New Year’s Eve Family Events
Creative Discovery Museum’s Cheers to the New Year (December 30th at 6pm) – Ring in the New Year at the only New Year’s party in town designed specifically for children and families! Families will have fun creating New Year’s clocks at Creation Station, making noise makers in the Make It workshop, painting fireworks with forks in the Art Studio, and helping Father Time countdown to the New Year, complete with bubble wrap fireworks and apple juice toast. Join us as we say goodbye to 2022 and hello to 2023!
Creative Discovery Museum’s Fizz, Pop, Boom! (December 31st from noon to 4pm) – Families will have fun exploring the science of carbonation, toasting the new year with fizzy cotton candy drinks, watching Electrified in the auditorium, and creating New Year’s crafts. Activities will begin at noon. This event is free with admission. Ticket reservations are recommended.
Bridgeman’s Chophouse – Ring in the New Year at Bridgeman’s Chophouse with your closest friends and family for our full menu with special New Year’s features.
Tennessee Valley Railroad New Year’s Eve Dinner (December 31st at 5pm and 9pm) – New Year’s Eve Dinner train trip includes a four-course dining experience onboard restored dining and pullman cars. The excursion trains depart from Chattanooga’s Grand Junction Station at 5pm and 9pm, traveling at a leisurely pace through portions of urban East Chattanooga before reversing direction and returning to Grand Junction. The travel time is just right for a complete meal on a vintage dining car.
Ice on the Landing – Ice on the Landing is holding holiday hours on New Year’s Eve from 10am to midnight. You can enjoy ice skating, coffee, drinks, dinner, and sweets all located at the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo.
Southern Belle Riverboat – You can catch an early dinner cruise for the family on New Year’s Eve or one at 9pm to help you welcome 2023!
Hamilton Skate Place – Your children can enjoy a New’s Year countdown and balloon drop as they skate their way into the new year.
Rock City Enchanted Garden of Lights – You can enjoy a stroll through the beautiful lights of Rock City to help you ring in the new year.

New Year’s Nightmare – One of Chattanooga’s most well known haunted houses, Dread Hallow, is opening for this special event on December 31st and January 7th.
