July is here and with it comes sunflower season! Sunflower fields have bloomed in popularity over the past few years, and Chattanooga boasts an impressive amount of them for our community to enjoy. Whether you want to pick a bouquet or take pictures, there are plenty of places to meet your sunflower needs.
Chattanooga Area Sunflower Fields
The most well known sunflower field in the Chattanooga area is Smith Perry Berry Farm. Thousands of people flock to this field every July for beautiful flowers and stunning pictures. They sell shirts every year, offer photo opportunities with classic cars, and incorporate all kinds of fun activities for your family to enjoy. You can check their Facebook page and website for updates on the sunflowers, picking/picture times, and inclement weather announcements.
If you’re looking for an alternative to the busy fields of Smith Perry Berry Farm, Red’s Hay Farm is a great choice! It’s also located in Ooltewah and offers live music and food trucks during their busy summer months. You can pick your own sunflowers and take pictures in their fields.
For our Marion County, TN friends, the Willis Farm is a great place to pick some sunflowers this summer. They grow several varieties of beautiful flowers, so you can leave with more than just sunflowers after your visit. This is a smaller farm, but with it’s tucked-away location, it’s a hidden spot not many Chattanooga natives know about.
Sims Farm in Ringgold is another great option for sunflowers. They allow flower picking and photography during the month of July. They also give updates throughout the month on their Facebook page.
For our friends closer to Atlanta, a great option for you is Cooper Creek Farms located in Calhoun, GA. They have a full blown sunflower festival, so this is a fantastic option for families. There is a general admission fee here, but the activities for children are endless. You can make a day of it here with all there is to do, and they sell food on the premises as well.
