These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

As a wife and mom in her mid-thirties, I’ve come to know things I like, things I don’t like, and things I love! I thought I’d share with you my list of must-have, tried and true items that I use every single day and love! These are the things I would go out and buy the same day if they were lost or broken. As I’ve had more life experience, I’ve also come to realize that it’s most often best to invest in something that’s well made and high quality over something that’s cheap and won’t hold up to everyday use.

  1. Apple Watch: I have been a faithful watch wearer since second grade, and the last six years, I’ve been faithful to Apple watches. All of my devices are Apple, so it just made sense to get a watch that would sync with everything. I’ve been through a few different models Apple has come out with, and I’ve loved every one of them. Unless something completely different and new comes out on the market that blows me away, I don’t foresee myself ever wavering from this watch.
  2. Dyson Vacuum: I knew I was old when I got excited about purchasing a new vacuum. I’m a mom to three boys and two big dogs, so vacuuming is an everyday occurrence here. I noticed all of my cheaper vacuums lasted around a year, and then I found myself purchasing a new one. It was a vicious cycle, so I finally bit the bullet and bought a Dyson. This vacuum is fantastic! It does everything I need it to do and more! It’s lightweight so my kids can use it, and it has so many attachments that I use it for furniture and my car, too!
  3. Breville Barista Touch Espresso Maker: We are big coffee drinkers in our household, so this item was definitely worth the investment! I’ve been drinking coffee for about four years, but I’m still rather picky when it comes to taste. I can’t have it too bitter, so I love that this machine makes a wide-variety of coffee shop quality drinks. If you drink multiple cups of coffee a day, I promise you won’t regret this purchase!
  4. Wet Brush: As silly as it sounds, this is the only hairbrush I will use! You can use it on wet or dry hair, and since it’s vented, your hair dries faster when using a blowdryer. My hair isn’t tangly, but on the rare occasion that it’s a bit knotty, this brush doesn’t hurt!
  5. Laptop Lap Desk: As a teacher and graduate student, I’m on my laptop A LOT. I don’t want to be confined to a desk, so this lap desk has given me the ability to work wherever I need to work. It has a spot for a wireless mouse, compartments for pens or small electronics, and it’s comfortable for long use. It’s so simple, but I wouldn’t last a day without it!
  6. Credit Card Phone Case: Once I started using this phone case, I knew I’d never go back. It’s big enough to hold a few credit cards, some cash, and my license. When I’m running in and out of places, I don’t always want to bring my purse with me. This has been a lifesaver! As long as I have my keys and my phone, I’m set!
  7. Leather Bag: If you’ve ever shopped around for a genuine leather bag, you know they can be rather pricey. After some digging, I found this one on Amazon, and it’s been fantastic! I’m hard on bags, and this one has held up beautifully. It looks just like a Frye or Fossil bag at a fraction of the cost!
  8. Bogg Bag: I have a thing for bags…I have three Bogg Bags, and I use them every day. From the beach, to swimming, to a teacher bag — these have held up beautifully! They are so easy to clean and hold a ton of stuff. This was another investment that was worth the price!
  9. Kindle: I’m an avid reader, so I swear by my Kindle. This saves my eyes because the screen looks just like a book, but I’m never wanting for books since I can get them digitally!
  10. Amazon Alexa: We pretty much have an Alexa in every room of our house. I’ve even written a post about how we use them! We use these multiple times a day, and I love them so much that I even have one in my classroom at school.
  11. Rainbow Flip-Flops: Living in Chattanooga means you can pretty much keep your flip-flops out all year long, and these are my go-to pair! They are nice enough to not look sloppy, they match everything, and they are so comfortable!
  12. Plastic Birkenstocks: These are my go-to summer shoes! Since they are plastic, you can clean them off easily. Since they are Birkenstocks, they are extremely comfortable. I hike in these, go to the beach and pool in them, and I never worry about them getting wet or dirty.

What are some of your favorite things? Do you have anything on this list that you love as well?
