Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so now is the perfect time to plan a fun date night with your significant other! Chattanooga is the perfect city for dates! There is a ton of variety, so if you’re looking for fancy or laid back, Chattanooga has got a spot for you!
Chattanooga Date Night Ideas
For the animal lovers, the Tennessee Aquarium and Chattanooga Zoo are perfect! They are close in proximity, so if you’re feeling frisky, you can do both in one date! They don’t hold evening hours, so I would suggest a “day date” followed by a delicious dinner downtown.
If you love the Tennessee River, you can schedule a full day of dates right on the water. One of Chattanooga’s most famous landmarks is the Walnut Street Bridge. That’s where my husband proposed to me, so it holds a very special place in my heart. It’s a pedestrian bridge, and there’s fun to be had on both sides.

The Walnut Street Bridge intersects with the Tennessee Riverwalk, and it’s a great spot to stroll hand in hand with your loved one. It’s just over 16 miles long and the views of the river are breathtaking. You can ride bikes, scooters, or take a casual walk on your date here. There are tons of picnic spots along the way, so it’d be a great spring date location.
To wrap up your day on the river, I’d suggest a ride on the Southern Belle, followed by dinner at Parkway Pourhouse, The Boathouse or Scottie’s on the River. On your boat ride, you can enjoy the view of the river from the other side…you can truly appreciate the Chattanooga skyline while floating down the river. Both of the restaurants mentioned sit on the river with patio seating, and the food is delicious.
For couples who love fun, games, and a little friendly competition, I suggest a Topgolf date or a night at Craft Axe Throwing. You can make a whole evening of it at Topgolf since they have a great food menu. This is also a great double date spot. If you want to feel like a viking, go throw some axes at Craft Axe Throwing. It’s located in East Ridge, so there are a ton of restaurants nearby to finish your date off with.
If you’re looking for something different, Chattanooga offers a wide variety of tours. The most well known are our horse and carriage rides and ghost tours. Both are held outside, so if you go in colder months, be sure to bundle up! You can catch a carriage ride outside of the Aquarium, and the ghost tours are just up the street. Both offer prime locations to Chattanooga’s best restaurants.
For the dessert lovers, Chattanooga has some great places to meet your needs. Whether it’s hot chocolate, cake, or ice cream, you can’t go wrong at one of these places:
City Cafe
The Ice Cream Show
Hot Chocolatier
Clumpie’s

If you want to have a fancy night on the town, there are tons of fun options! Chattanooga has some beautiful hotels with fine dining. There are also several standalone restaurants that are the perfect spot for glitz and glamor. My husband and I stayed at The Westin in the West Village; it’s within walking distance to so many cool spots. The rooftop restaurant has spectacular views of the city, and the rooftop pool is gorgeous. The Edwin Hotel is located beside the Walnut Street Bridge, and it has some really cool dining options. The Read House is another historic hotel in the city, and you can eat at their fantastic restaurant, Bridgeman’s Steak House. Top of the Rock, located in the Jasper Highlands, has some of the best views in the area.

If you’re a mountain loving couple, Chattanooga can meet those needs too. Point Park, the Incline, and the Lookout Mountain Fly Park are great spots to enjoy mountain views. Rock City and Ruby Falls are also great options on Lookout Mountain.
And finally, for the sports enthused couple, Chattanooga has a wide variety of teams you can go cheer on. Whether it’s soccer, football, basketball, or baseball, you can get your date night fix in the city!
