As I (and several of my CMB cohorts) near the home stretch of our current pregnancies, I’ve been thinking about how different this round has been than pregnancy with my first bambino. Maybe I’m used to the exhaustion that is parenting a wild and crazy toddler boy and just don’t have the time (or energy) to realize how much my body resents pregnancy. Maybe this one has *truly* been an easier go. Maybe it’s the Diclegis.
Regardless, I thought I’d share a few products that have helped me through the past 36 weeks:
1. Preggie Pop Drops (or any sour candy).
For some reason pregnancy quite literally puts a terrible taste in my mouth. These “homeopathic” nausea relief candies taste legit and also have some ginger mixed in, so although brief in my experience, there is a little reprieve from nausea. I like them because: they taste good, they are individually wrapped, they’re small and easy to hide from your toddler. You can buy them on Amazon or locally at Babies R Us.
2. A good planner.
I know, you’re surprised that the girl who wrote The Full Plate Club is praising her planner again. I saw some *alleged* scientific fact that a woman’s brain physically shrinks while she’s pregnant and it doesn’t re-expand do its normal amazingness until six months after giving birth. I’m not sure I’m ready to believe that, but I think we can all agree that the mom-brain is a real thing. I’m a fan of Erin Condren and Plum Paper Designs. Kings on Toast also has a less-frilly planner available on Etsy. I just got my 2017 planner and opted with Plum Paper for this year. They have a new “baby” section that helps you track feedings, growth, doctor’s appointments, milestones, and all sorts of other things that we all know I probably won’t keep up with, but it’s a great thought, right?
3. Bliss Just a Little Tint tinted moisturizer.
My skin is CRAZY dry when I’m pregnant, and the lack of rain around here definitely hasn’t helped. This moisturizer is super thick and provides enough coverage to help out with the pregnancy blotchiness when I don’t have the time or energy to do a full face. You can find it on Amazon, but if you have the opportunity to go to an actual Bliss spa (what a great excuse to drop in) and have a pre-natal massage, DO IT. Don’t look at the cost, just do it.
4. LipSense.
Maybe it’s exhaustion, maybe it’s the dry skin, maybe it’s just that I’m getting a little *mature* and refuse to admit it, but I look like death on a cracker without some decent make up on these days. I’ve always hated lipstick because it’s a constant smudging, reapplying, melting mess. LipSense is life changing. The color stays all day (for real) and the gloss is super moisturizing. I’m an addict, and I 1000% recommend any busy mom look into grabbing some of this for yourself (pregnant or not).
5. Comfy clothes that don’t scream “I’m pregnant and this is a maternity dress!”
My friend Sarah swears by Maternity StitchFix. I have been quite literally living in LuLaRoe Carly dresses and leggings. I love these clothes because a) they are SUPER comfortable from day 1 to day one million (or whatever day I’m on now), b) they are relatively inexpensive in comparison to most traditional maternity clothes, and c) they will transition back into some sort of body normalcy after we become a family of four.
