July is here and with it comes sunflower season! Sunflower fields have bloomed in popularity over the past few years and Chattanooga has a few great local farms for our community to enjoy. Whether you want to pick a bouquet or take pictures, there are plenty of places to meet your sunflower needs.
Chattanooga Area Sunflower Fields
The most well known sunflower field in the Chattanooga area is Smith Perry Berry Farm. Thousands of people flock to this field every July for beautiful flowers and stunning pictures. They sell shirts every year, offer photo opportunities with classic cars, and incorporate all kinds of fun activities for your family to enjoy. You can check their Facebook page and website for updates on the sunflowers, picking/picture times, and inclement weather announcements. They are expecting sunflowers to peak around the middle of July.
If you are up for a drive, Fausett Farms in Dawsonville is a great option. They grow their flowers later in the season, so you can enjoy these beauties in September. With its tucked-away location, it’s a hidden spot not many Chattanooga natives know about.
For our friends closer to Atlanta, a great option for you is Cooper Creek Farms located in Calhoun, GA. They have a full-blown sunflower festival that runs from July 7 – July 27, so this is a fantastic option for families. There is a general admission fee here, but the activities for children are endless. You can make a day of it with all there is to do, and they sell food on the premises as well. It is already open for the season.
For our friends closer to Middle Tennessee, Lucky Ladd Farms is located close to Nashville!vLocated in the heart of Middle Tennessee, Farmer Ladd has planted nearly four acres of sunflowers in our fields to provide a family-friendly event, combining sunflower picking with an extremely desirable photography experience near Nashville, Franklin, and Murfreesboro. Bring your cameras – sunflower selfies are encouraged! Spend as much time as you like wandering the fields and enjoying the beautiful scenery that our Sunflower Festival has to offer. It’s an ideal spot for professional and amateur photographers alike, seeking the best sunflower photography spots near Nashville.
Sunflower season typically runs through the month of July, so make sure you don’t miss it!

Flat Top Mountain Farm in Soddy Daisy has sunflowers too. They bloom all summer and throughout the Fall with their rotating planting. They also have UPick Zinnias.
